How to Configure Eudora with a "white list" filter

The goal is to configure Eudora to delete all spam and junk email. While the spam and filtering tools make this easy, they put such emails in to special "Junk" and "Trash" folder, which are still accessible. This may be fine for adults, but you may not want your children to have any access these folders.

The mechanism used is to accept only those emails that come from an address in your Eudora address book. All other email gets sent to trash twice, and due to a quirk in Eudora, the second time causes the email to be deleted. Yes, your child may lose some legitimate email, but so what?

Here is how to configure this.

First, under Tools in the main menu, select Options. Move down the Category list on the left, and highlight "Junk Mail" as shown. Disable the Junk Mailbox feature that says "Automatically place junk in Junk mailbox" by removing the checkmark.

Next, from the Filter tab, create a new filter with the following properties:

Then create a new second filter with the following properties:

Note the "Skip Rest" option after the "Transfer To".
